Webster Elementary School (Urbandale) issued the following announcement on July 31
Please review the following information regarding updates to our district notification process.
SMS (TEXT) MESSAGING
As we begin the 2019-20 school year, we’ll be adding SMS (text) messages as another way for the district to communicate notifications (school delays, cancellations, etc.) with families and staff. On Friday, August 16 at approximately 10:00 a.m., our notification partner, SchoolMessenger, will send a welcome text message to families and staff. The text will state something similar to: “You’re registered 4 SchoolMessenger messages. Txt STOP to quit, HELP 4 help. Std msg/data rates may apply. Freq varies. schoolmessenger.com/tm.”
If you do not wish to continue receiving text messages from the district, you will be given the option to opt-out.
If you do wish to continue receiving text messages, you do not need to take any action.
If you do not receive a text message and wish to do so: families should contact their school to request their contact information be updated in PowerSchool; staff should contact Maggie Holton to request their contact information be updated in SUI.
ANNUAL “TEST” NOTIFICATIONS FOR FAMILIES AND STAFF
Families and staff will also be receiving a “test” notification from the district on Wednesday, August 21 at approximately 11:00 a.m. that will include a phone call, text, and email—this is to ensure we have all of the correct contact information in our system.
If you do not receive the text/phone/email message: families should contact their school to request their contact information be updated; staff should contact Maggie Holton to request their contact information be updated in SUI.
As a reminder, the district will send notifications via phone, email, and text, post an alert on the district website, share on Twitter, and share via local media. Please be sure to stay alert, updated, and informed via these channels. Thank you!
